I'm making brine, help me not to make this up

I want to make brine for the road here and got a couple of questions about it. Can I use regular salt instead of plain rock salt? I'm in florida, it's hard to find that kind of salt here.
Is it a good idea to mix the brine with MetDown Apexliquid around 20% by vol? and anyone have experience with brine makers? care to share them here! TIA

Regular salt can work in a pinch, but it might dissolve faster than rock salt, so you'll want to keep an eye on the mix. The 20% MetDown Apex liquid idea sounds like it could give your brine an extra kick for icy roads, but it's always good to test a small batch first to avoid surprises. If this doesn't work out, you can always pivot and use the salt to brine a turkey instead.

Yeah, it's fine to use non-iodized salt but do avoid iodized table salt because staining may happen or something. Ratio should be 23.3% salt to water by weight You're in Florida right so even just 20-22% brine can work. Agree with @_g33km3ist3r here it's a great idea to ise MeltDown. yeah, you can use regular salt but it has to be non iodized so it doesn't gunk up the system, we know rock salt is ideal, but down here we work with what we've got, right? for the metdown Apex, 20% should be fine. I've tinkered with a DIY brine maker using a tote and sump pump, and it worked like a charm

if using regular salt make sure it is not iodized and free of additives. And don't forget to crush bigger pellets or dissolve them longer.

Yeah, regular salt instead of rock salt is ok but rock salt is more effective for ice on roads. Also work with brine makers. Agree with @Cream Cracker if you're mixing 20% vol is ok.
